Bakewell U15 2-7 Carr Vale Angels U15
For this final game of the season the Angels completely changed their formation. With Gascoyne missing Mapley donned the keeper’s jersey, and Owen and Marriott were in defence as the match got underway. Carr Vale soon got into the stride and opened the scoring when Wall hit a shot from 25yds which deceived the keeper and nestled into the back of the net. It was all one way traffic now as the Angels began to dominate. Linacre found space on the wing before crossing to Whybrow, whose header beat the keeper but went just wide. Wall made it two when a cross shot bounced high on the hard ground, over the keeper and in. A third soon followed when again Linacre delivered a pinpoint cross into the danger area. Whybrow provided the knock down for Gore to prod home from close range. Bakewell briefly came back into it with a well struck shot from 12yds out. The Angels were soon attacking again with

Within five minutes Ashbourne went further ahead when Sears scored a second after a strong run down the left wing. The Angels responded by forcing numerous corners, all of which Owen placed perfectly in the danger area, with Mapley going closest when her header was cleared off the line.

Both teams started the second half looking to gain the upper hand, but it was Buxton who saw more of the ball with the Angels being pushed back. The Warriors were particularly strong on the left side of the attack and Whybrow had to be at her best to minimise the threat from the pacey forwards. Although the Angels were pegged back they were always a threat on the break.

Wirksworth Girls U15 1-1 Carr Vale Angels U15
The Angels came into today’s game knowing that a win would secure the League Title for the second season running. Wirksworth had other ideas with a spirited, battling performance that made the Angels look second best for long periods.
Playing up the slope in the first period Carr Vale struggled to find any penetration as the Wirksworth defence dominated. Efforts on goal were restricted to long range shots from Mapley, Gore,
The Angels started the second half with more urgency and were soon threatening the Wirksworth goal, but a combination of some fine saves and strong defending prevented any further score. As Carr Vale pressed forward they were caught out by a swift counter attack which saw the Wirksworth forward break clear to slot home the equaliser. Stunned, the Angels midfield of Dickinson, Linacre and Marriott tried everything to carve out an opening but to no avail. As the away side become more and more frustrated the chance of scoring another goal seemed to be further away.
Congratulations Wirksworth for an energetic and determined team performance.

Carr Vale started today’s game the stronger and were soon pressing forward. Mapley released Gore down the wing whose cross into the danger area was cleared for a corner. The Angels enjoyed a spell of sustained pressure but were unable to make the breakthrough against a well organised Ashbourne defence. When the first goal did come it was scored by the away side. The winger broke clear of the Carr Vale defence down the left wing before crossing into the box. The ball held up in the wind and fell to Lee whose shot went in off the post. After last weeks defeat the Angels were looking to get back into winning ways and with inform Sheepbridge as opponents, today’s match was going to be a stern test. Gore and
Sheepbridge started the second half the brighter and had the territorial advantage but were unable to find a way through as Evill and stand in defender Marriott were organised and working well together to prevent any clear openings. In fact the biggest threat to Gascoyne’s goal was an inswinging corner which she did well to save at the near post. Buxton Warriors U15 5-4 Carr Vale Angels U15
Today’s game saw the leagues top two teams meet on a very windy cold morning at Sterndale Moor. The Angels started with the wind behind them and soon created some chances. The Buxton defence were unable to clear Owen’s accurate kick and in the goalmouth scramble that followed Alton managed to poke the ball home. Carr Vale continued to press and were fortunate to go further ahead when a speculative shot from Mapley bounced over the keeper and into the net. More goals looked likely but the Buxton keeper was having a fine game and made good saves from efforts by Gore, Owen, Alton , Linacre and Marriott. The Angels did go further ahead when another pin point corner found Mapley in space at the back post and she made no mistake from close range. Buxton responded well and against the run of play at this stage in the game broke clear to pull a goal back. With their spirits lifted Buxton came more into the game and scored again to make it 3-2. The game was more even now with chances created at both ends. Marriott went close with a long range effort and Whybrow, Evill and Dickinson were made to work hard by the Buxton forwards.

The Angels just couldn’t make any headway and to make matters worse Wall went down injured and was unable to take any further part in the game. Still pushing forward Buxton took the lead when a massive kick downfield by the keeper bounced over Dickinson in goal and into the net. Against the run of play the Angels drew level, a strong run by Alton created space for a pass to Owen who threaded a ball between the defenders for Gore to smash the ball into the roof of the net. The equaliser didn’t change the pattern of the game, Dickinson ’s goal was constantly under threat, and although she made some fine saves she was unable to stop the centre forward scoring the winner.

Ripley Girls U15 0-5 Carr Vale Angels U15
Ripley have struggled to find their form so far this season but proved tougher opponents than the league table would suggest.
